Marvin - Devil In The Distance

Former martian, Marvin dropped his debut album recently and it’s an insightful, fun and well put together debut that gives him a real platform to build on, one that will hopefully see him catching up to the likes of Lethal Bizzle and Akala in popularity.

The singles Super Hero and Get By, Be Good are both on here, but the stand out track for me is the brilliant Trocadero, where he talks you through going to the shopping centre to pull and what happens to him there. It’s funny, a tongue in cheek look at life for a young lad growing up in London and thats a theme that gets returned to throughout.

Due to the nature of the lyrics it makes it an easy album to put yourself in the artists shoes and live the stories with him, if that sounds like your sort of thing and you want a different take on hip-hop in the UK, then Marvin is your man.
