Liam Finn - I’ll Be Lightning
Liam Finn has been hotly tipped this year by Rolling Stone magazine and while he hasn’t blown me away with his debut album I’ll Be Lightning, it has made a pleasant change from the usual run of the mill singer-songwriter stuff.
The album is both delightfully upbeat and perversely melancholy in equal measure and it isn’t just the lyricsa that keep you on your toes throughout. There is a definite ragged feel to the music, I mean trhat in a good way though, despite the fact that it’s well produced it has retained a raw feel to it, that adds to the overall sound.
Stand-out tracks for me were Second Chance, Fire In Your Belly, Energy Spent and Wide Awake On The Voyage Home.
