Bloc Party - Mercury

I really had fallen out of ‘like’ with Bloc Party, after the initial blistering singles like Banquet, Little Thoughts and Helicopter, the album Silent Alarm came as a bit of a disappointment for me. The second album was even worse for me (a bland-fest) and live they were equally as dull.

So it’s pleasing to see that they have bounced back now with a brand new single that is a real banger. Mercury has an edge back in their music that has been missing for way too long, maybe just maybe it could herald the return to form that i’ve been looking for.

The single is out now through Wichita Recordings.
