The Thirst - My Everything
Taken on just the music, then My Everything by The Thirst is nothing special at all, sure it’s got an upbeat feel to it and everything is done in a very competent manner, but it sticks as something of a wannabe Libertines track for the most part.
Even the vocal doesn’t really give you anything to make it stand out from the rest of the bands emerging out of London with a copy of Up The Bracket. What gives this track a bit of an edge to me though is the lyrics. Inspired by watching a documentary on HIV+ the lyrics draw heavily on this and do come across as heartfelt.
Only time will tell if they can repeat this trick with future singles and also find an individual musical edge, but for now it’s promising.
