Brigade - Sink, Sink, Swim
Brigade are a four piece rock/indie band based in London. Although I haven’t heard many of their songs I’ve been aware of of them more so recently as they feature on Kerrang almost daily. ‘Sink, Sink, Swim’ starts off with a catchy beat with guitar/drums kicking in the first 20 seconds throwing you into the song in a head-bopping mood. Great start for a great song!
The vocals sound brilliant and fit in nicely with the music genre. Lead vocalist Will Simpson has that distinct voice, if you heard one of their songs and heard another in time-you’d know who it was. What interested me as well about this band is the fact they are united song writers which always appeals to me more as a band as they come across as so much more capable and talented.
Although I’ve listened to ‘Sink, Sink, Swim’ four times in a row now (yes it really is that good!) I can’t determine the exact lyrics but I know enough to state its not just a bunch of random words thrown together not making sense! I have to comment on the second track ‘Stunning’ because that also is a really good song. The vocals more than anything catch me and throw me into the song probably more than ‘Sink, Sink, Swim’.
The guitar/drums/bass are not too heavy but also not too easy going so just the inbetween which to me seems to go rather well with the lead vocalist on this track. Definately a band to keep your eye on and listen out for the single released on 4th August.
