Swanton Bombs - Viktoria
Swanton Bombs have grabbed me unlike any other band over the last twelve months, as soon as I heard them I was instantly hooked, yes it could be argued that they don’t bring anything new to the table, two piece blues rock groups with a new wave swagger are of course a lot more common in recent years (White Stripes, Blood Red Shoes, Old Romantic Killer Band and Black Keys to name but a few).
Yet they do it with such freshness, each track they unleash has a vibrancy running through it, an urgency that gives you a subtle indication of just what a fantastic live band they are and just what hunger lays within the pair of them.
The latest single Viktoria is no different, it’s got a rougher feel to it than previous single Doom, it’s them at their purest, sweatiest little rock club best and I for one love it.
Quite possibly the most exciting band around at the moment.
