The Dodos - Visiter

The Dodos debut album Visiter is in some ways one of the albums of the year for me, which might confuse some people as to why i’ve only given it three out of five for the rating. I’ll try to explain that if I can, but even then it might not make any sense!

That though is in keeping with the album, it’s slightly non-sensical, bordering on derranged in some places (the end of The Season is a good starting point if you want to see what I mean by that). Despite this though it has a brilliant charm to it, some delightful melody that gives the whoozy mix of bluegrass folk, americana and psychedelic folk a real summer feel.

It won’t be for everybody, it is a little disjointed hence the mark, but at the same time Red And Purple, Jody, Undeclared and It’s That Time Again are absolute gems that you will come to love. In short it’s a work of mind blowing genius, that does it’s best to throw you off track, don’t let it, instead stick with it.
