Yes we know, it’s been a while and you were begining to wonder if we’d ever be back with an update. Apologies all round from us here at The Beat Surrender, we can only offer the feeble excuse that Christmas and a house move have done for us time wise.
Anyway enough of our grovelling apologies and onto what we are all here for…oh yes the music! 2007 looks already like it could be a brilliant year for both new and returning bands, but to kick things off in true Beat Surrender style we are wrapping up the last of our reviews from last year first (new issue with new music to follow in a week or so).
Our cover stars this issue are the superb Yeti. Fronted by former Libertines member John Hassall, they are one of our big tips for 2007, so sit back and read a superb live review of them and be entertained by the interview we squeezed in with them.
Also on the live front we have the afro haired rock shenanigans of Wolfmother, impressive performances from We Are Scientists, Kasabian, Muse and The Duke Spirit and a slightly subdued singles gig from long term favourites The Charlatans.
Album wise The Bluetones make a welcome return to form with their self titled long player and Sound Team give one of our reviewers a real pleasant surprise with Movie Monster.
February isn’t traditionally the time for giving, but if you are into freebies then head over to the Competitions page and you’ll find a very nice chance to win some Josh Pyke goodies.
…and we promise to be back very shortly with the next issue…or your money back(if you actually paid any)!
